SHALDON NEWS

Shaldon Singers

PRESS RELEASE

The Shaldon Singers’ new season begins on 9 September. Rehearsals take place on Thursdays at St Peter’s Church, Shaldon, from 7.15 to 9 p.m. New singers are very welcome, especially tenors and basses. There is no audition, but an ability to read music is an advantage. Musical director Nigel Crabtree says: ‘the important qualities are enthusiasm and a sense of humour’. Anyone interested should contact Malcolm Watson on 01626 873492.

Schubert’s Mass in G is on the programme for the first concert, on Saturday 12 December at St Peter’s Church. The concert will also feature a selection of carols and Christmas music.

ST PETER’S CHURCH
is pleased to announce that it is holding an

AUTUMN FLOWER FESTIVAL

in conjunction with

‘FLOWERS BY LESLEY’ OF TEIGNMOUTH

14 – 17 OCTOBER 2010

It is many years since we have had a Flower Festival here in Shaldon and we are very excited! When Lesley asked us to join her in this venture, we were delighted.  We could not have undertaken such a mammoth task on our own (St Peter’s is a big church to fill with flowers!).
Lesley’s chosen charity is the RSPCA and the theme will be:

‘ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL’

The Festival will open on Thursday evening with a
FLOWER ARRANGING DEMONSTRATION BY EXPERTS

We hope to provide some entertainment at certain times while light refreshments will be on tap for those who are wilting or just want to plant themselves down and take root for a while to soak up the heady atmosphere.
The Festival will end on Sunday afternoon with a special service.

All proceeds will be divided equally
between the RSPCA and St Peter’s Church

The Festival proper will run
from FRIDAY 15TH TO SUNDAY 17TH OCTOBER
